One of my favorite bloggers, Garance Doré posted some amazing video last week, that unfortunately I cannot embed here, from the Guy Bourdin film exhibition at Bon Marché.
I really wish I could have been in Paris to see this in person. Here is how Garance described it:
Sublime. A true study in weightlessness. No use trying to describe it for words could do no justice. I loved the circular mise en scène, loved the Ariel Wizman soundtrack, loved getting a glimpse backstage - so happy, so fresh, loved seeing Guy Bourdin shooting in a shopping cart.
But above all, I loved the saturation of colors, smiles, the memory of these years of freedom, where provocation was a game, where sensuality overflowed with humor and no one was afraid to shock.

I have been following the development of this film since it was first announced that Spike Jonze would be at the helm and have been waiting impatiently for October 16 to come.
To be totally honest, it was never a favorite book when I was little, I think it scared me a bit but as a 'grown up', I can definitely appreciate the beauty of the story and drawings. I will definitely have to get this book for my neice for her 1st birthday. Every kid should have a copy in their library.
What I have seen of this film so far has blown me away. The whole world that Spike has created is one of wonder and discovery. You can visit the official website HERE

One of my favorite directors, Wes Anderson is working on a stop-motion version of Roald Dahl's The Fantastic The Mr. Fox starring the voices of George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, Meryl Streep and Jason Schwartzman.

This is definitely one I am looking forward to seeing.
I love Terry Gilliam - from his work with Monty Python (will come back to that one in another post) to Brazil, The Adventures of Baron Muchausen. even The Brothers Grimm (although not his best work in my opinion, but still beautiful). I have not seen Time Bandits yet but its on my Netflix list.

Starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Ewan McGregor, Toni Collette, Eddie Izzard and Christian Bale and directed by Todd Haynes, the film is the story of Brian Slade, a star of the Glam Rock scene based loosely on David Bowie.
Using the conventions and structure created in Citizen Kane, Arthur Stuart (Bale), a former devotee and fan of Glam Rock and now a reporter, takes a journey through the life of Brian Slade (Meyers) and the people who shaped his career and life to find out why he disappeared after an ill-fated publicity stunt.

I have been listening to the soundtrack NON-STOP all week. The only regret I have about the soundtrack is that it is not the original voices of the actors from the film singing the tracks, with the exception of the '20th Century Boy' by Placebo, who were featured in the film.
